What is it about some voices that so deeply resonate with us?

And what is it about other voices that fails to resonate in the same way?

Polly Studio-21-lores.jpg

We often encounter singers who are skilful, in tune and with a vast range and all the known licks and tricks, but it still leaves us non-plussed or with a sense that something crucial is missing.

Our best contributions in life, whatever our endeavours, are to dig deep in to our true feelings and desires and to allow them be the springboard for our actions. Singing, is no different. It needs us to be honest, it needs us to share as best we can our stories, our joy, our rage and vulnerabilities.

Whilst learning skills or understanding the theory or mechanics can be useful, the best discovery of our voices comes from play; that is to say exploring the full spectrum of your unique sound and then using all those colours to serve the song.

Polly has recorded 9 albums, with 3 of them recorded in the US. She has toured all over the world and has performed, notably, at the Montreal Jazz Festival, Royal Albert Hall and had a residency at the legendary jazz club Birdland, NYC. She has provided backing vocals for Joss Stone, Charlotte Church and been a featured artist recording at Abbey Road Studios.

James, a celebrated pianist whose decades of performance and experiential insight have led him to work with a vast range of singers including, but not limited to, Gregory Porter, Rufus Wainwright, Dame Cleo Laine, Imelda May, and Paul McCartney. He has been a featured pianist with the Halle Orchestra.

This unique opportunity at the 606 Club is designed to be a supportive, fun and relaxed atmosphere, fostering growth and confidence for all attendees.
